PCTx is a USB PC to R/C interface that allows you to "control an R/C vehicle or robot from your Windows PC." Video example after the jump. More information here.
By connecting an R/C transmitter to a PC via the PCTx interface, you now have the ability to "take control" of an R/C vehicle or robot with your PC side applications

Line-Following Robot

This robot was created using an inexpensive 4 channel Futaba radio system, 2 full rotation servos, video capture card, and a wireless camera. Images are captured from the camera and processed on the host computer. The proper direction is then relayed to the robot via the PCTx system
