(Video) Wii Disc Drive Problems

So you've seen the broken PlayStation 3, now check out this malfunctioning Wii. Video after the jump. Here's what Michael Fahey of Kotaku has to say:
I'm thinking that with a little more power and a custom-made disc loading magazine we could have the most interactive version of Tron Deadly Discs ever, or at the very least a passable dodgeball game

Judging by how hard he loads the disc I would not doubt that it all started with someone forcefully shoving the disc in the slot. It's the same loading mechanism as a car cd player and I've seen tons of car cd players do that same thing. DON'T ABUSE THE WII!

I dont have anything against the Wii but now Wii super fans cant say that PS3 is cheap cuz it has the same problem

A greasy disc will cause that to happen. If grease or grime gets on the rubber rollers that take in the disc, it will not grip it.

i think it's not only the case of bad rollers - once the disc is in, it sounds like the lens is trying to go up and down really fast, making that clicking sound. it's just a wild guess though.

The spindle trying to rise up on a disc that is not all the way inserted will cause the clicking. I think this and the Ps3 mess up are isolated incidents and should not be used to base any opinion as far as quality goes.

...someone doesn't know how to use a cd player. Took me a second to realize how sensitive the loading mechanism is, maybe this individual just didn't spend that second getting acquainted with it...

this is why trays are better than feeders, feeders always end up with a degree of manufacturing issues, the more moving parts the more moving parts the more that can go wrong
