This is a New Zealand advert and it was a hundred dollars deposit. The walk away purchase price was $2995.00+GST which amounts to $3369.37. What a bargain !!!

This ad wouldn't be legal today, you have to say the actual price then the deposit, not deposit, deposit, deposit, deposit, price, deposit... And it never said the repayment rate...

[...] /* OMG! We’ve got 35 MB of RAM, and a 2 GB HDD! Wow-wee! If that salesman was any more excited his eyes would be popping out of his skull. If you listen towards the last 30 seconds, he sounds like he’s hyperventilating. OH! Almost forgot the 33.6K modem! All can be yours (if you go back in time 10 years) for a deposit of $100 and a full sale price of just under $3000! It’s a steal! — Andrew Dobrow World’s Fastest PC…in ‘97 [TechEBlog] [...]
