What started as a weekend project for France-based Remi Becherel became Chateaux Dans Les Arbres, a tree house that appears to be straight from the Harry Potter universe. To even reach this beautiful structure built on the site of a ruined fortress in the Perigord region, you’ll have to cross an old moat using wooden footbridges. According to Inhabitat, “On top of idyllic countryside views, the holiday homes offer modern conveniences such as stone fireplaces, rooftop hot tubs, and Finnish saunas. While Chateaux Dans Les Arbres built its treehouse using sustainably sourced wood, it would be great to see them implement other sustainable design features to offset the energy being used by the jacuzzis, fridges, and other power-hungry appliances offered to guests.”
