Wii Manufacturing Costs Revealed

According to Toyokeizai and this price sheet, the Wii costs Nintendo approximately $158.30 to manufacture -- $195.99 wholesale price. What are your thoughts?
If these guys have done their sums right, Nintendo are making just under $40 profit on every Wii sold. At such an early stage of the consoles development, and with sales so healthy, that's good news for anyone at Nintendo that's involved in the counting, or spending, of money

Am I reading this correctly? PS3 costs $805 to produce and they sell it at wholesale for 1/2 of that? Can they really afford to make up profits in game sales?

$40 bucks ain't much of a profit either. Think of all the promotions, distribution, and all other costs - at least they ain't rippin us off. i expected profits of at least $80-100. I guess it's just me being money-thirsty.

Its amazing that they can make a profit, Does any one know if this is the first?

Keep in mind consoles have ALWAYS been sold at a loss. Wii is the first in history to sell at a profit. Console makers make their profit from collecting a percentage of games they license to be sold on their console. Gamecube needed only 2 games per person sold to make a profit, PS3 will need..... much much more then normal it's mainly as a trojan horse for Blu Ray.
