Wiimote Mouse Gets Sensor Bar

So you've seen the Wiimote being used to play Half-Life: 2 on a laptop, now a modder managed to complete the experience by getting the sensor bar working. Video after the jump.
The big advance here is support for the Wii's sensor bar (or candles, we suppose), which'll give you far greater control than previous Wiimote-only hacks have allowed, actually making it a decent alternative to a mouse for some tasks. Still skeptical? Check out the vid after the break and judge for yourself

They need to get the nunchuck hooked up as well that could take the place o wasd on a keyboard fairly easily.

Not bad! I'm impressed. :)

I see a major problem with replacing the mouse with a wiimote on FPS games. With the mouse, the entire screen moves around and you can swivel 180 degrees very easily. However, when you use the wiimote as a pointer, you would simply be aiming your gun at different things on the screen without swiveling your view. If the view were to swivel like with a mouse, your target would also move, making it very difficult to hit anything. As such, the wiimote could never replace a keyboard mouse setup without a major control overhaul. Lets hope someone thinks something up quick.

The Wii had the potential to do well for fps games but they've screwed it up...Games like Red Steel suck because you can't move the whole screen. If moving the whole screen doesn't work well....that's bad news for fps games on the Wii

"the view were to swivel like with a mouse, your target would also move, making it very difficult to hit anything. Admittedly this means an extra control is needed to switch between strafing and swiveling. Perhaps the D pad (the other way round would mean you can't vary your turning speed). In principle this is not a difficult setup to get used to. We all use the keyboard and mouse in tandem, so there is no reason to suggest we can't all use the nunchuck and wimmote in tandem as well. When you circle strafe with a mouse you are doing the 'difficult' task of compensating for movement with your mouse, so I see no real issue. Hell I'm betting you could use the keyboard and wiimote if you want, with modders like this guy. Like I say it just requires one extra button for strafing. Personally I would love to try CS with the wiimote.
