Windows Vista Speech Recognition Gone Right?

According to Long Zheng of istartedsomething, Vista's speech recognition actually works and quite well to say the least -- contrary to what MSNBC called a "wreck". Video after the jump.
I got my hands on the July CTP build (5427) of Windows Vista and gave it a try, and I recorded what I found. I used the internal microphone array in my laptop, so the sound quality is not optimal but Vista handled it well

UnitZero u've never seen windows vista before? you can use it just like windows xp or you can simply use the whole new thing, completely different from xp... if you see a vista looking like xp is because the computer has not enough capabability to put the whole vista to run or the owner simply didn't want the new vist look...

desperate move by microsoft on trying to copy Mac's interface. It'll make you tired by talking to the computer all day rather than clicking the mouse.

That's a bit better than the notorious live demo. Which makes people wonder if this is real. I think it is. But Vista is a crock in general. Everything they have has been on Linux desktops for ages.

I use Windows Vista- I can say that the speech recognition is good. Mac has speech recognition, but they haven't actully updated it since OS9.2. I got so frustrated with it that I told it to shut up, and it said "Okay, not listening" I just have a crappy Mic for Vista, so Vista can't hear anything I say. Sometimes noise canceling microphones cancel too much noise. BTW, Microsoft has had speech recognition since 98/ME. Check under the second ta in the Speech control panel. I used a program called FreeVoice and it worked well.
