Simon Whitlock created the world's first 48-cylinder, 4,200cc motorcycle "by bolting a bunch of engine parts together". Three years and many "huge problems" later, the bike was finally completed. Video clip after the jump.
It needs a 75cc “Donkey” motor under the seat to start the 48-cyl engine. According to the report, the main engine weighs one ton. “Don’t look at it as a bike, look at it as a pure feat of engineering,” he said.

that is Freaking Amazing thinK about thE power that thing has
3
those (rather thin) motorcycle tyres are doing pretty well under the weight of a one ton engine... Not to mention the suspension. I wonder if you can actually ride the thing.?.
4
Come on now...absolutely not practical...look how the rider has to sit too...ridiculous and absurd, but, if it had to be done, it had to be done.
5
i hope it explodes while the man is riding it
6
umm. ya i am sure it would be powerful to ride that thing. only one problem. u cant ride it. and imagine if the bike started to tip to one side. that would be soo hard to correct. u would be falling over all the time
7
doesnt sound that big when he's revving it... not impressed.
8
4,200 cc? can you actually ride that oil drinking machine? what a futile "invention"
9
Where is the promised video?
10
Im sure 75% of the power created by that engine gets lost in the transmission.

If any of you knew anything about engines, you'd know that if it has 48 cylinders in that layout the crack must have some type of elbowing. And 4.2 L is nothing amazing, thats like a V8 So dont think its faster than a ferrari. and as someone said, all that power is probably lost on hte crank, doesnt even need to get to the tranny. Think of it as, 48 really small Law mower engines together, they're not full sized pistons, if they were it'd displace more than 4.2L...

Ok. This bloke obviously has a lot of 'tension' in his life and can't relieve it in the same manner as the rest of us. I comend you on your choice of projects mate, but, couldn't you have designed the bike from the ground up? You've killed a perfectly good bike and turned it into frankenstien. Oh the humanity!!

Dave Interesting topic... I'm working in this industry myself and I don't agree about this in 100%, but I added your page to my bookmarks and hope to see more interesting articles in the future
