World's First Laptop

Presenting the Osbourne 1 released by the Osbourne Computer Corporation in 1981. How things have changed, back than the disk drives were larger than the screen which was 5" to be exact, and couldn't show more than 52 characters per line of text. If it were any longer you' have to manually use the arrow keys to scroll until they came into view. It also featured 64k RAM and weighed in at a chunky 24.5 pounds. [...] acima, o osborne 1, que veio ao mundo em 1981. cpu de 8 bits [zilog Z80A de 8 bits, clock de 4MHz!], incríveis 64 kilobytes de memória [!], tela ascii de 52 caracteres [verdes] por linha, floppies de 5 pol. que ocupavam área maior do que a tela, 12 quilos de peso pra destruir a coluna de qualquer um que tentasse carregá-lo, sistema operacional CPM2.2… tudo por cerca de US$1.800, o mesmo dos laptops de verdade que se pode comprar hoje. ou seja, o preço se mantém constante a a capacidade dobra a cada 18 meses. nada como o bom e velho moore pra garantir que a gente consegue fazer alguma coisa de útil hoje em dia.
