In addition to cars with auto-pilot, there may be autonomous motorcycle delivery services being completed by robots such as Yamaha’s Motobot. Absolutely no human input is required, though we’d imagine being able to set a path or objective is possible.

One thing we don’t know is if Motobot can turn the bike around, but seeing it accelerate north of 100 km/h (62 mph) with ease really feels like Yamaha is one the verge of something big. The company says that Motobot will eventually be able to ride the R1M well enough and perform all the maneuvers a human usually makes while riding.

This is an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot built around a fusion of Yamaha’s motorcycle and robotics technology. R&D is currently underway with the goal of developing the robot to ride an unmodified motorcycle on a racetrack at more than 200 km/h. The task of controlling the complex motions of a motorcycle at high speeds requires a variety of control systems that must function with a high degree of accuracy,” said Yamaha.
