Monolith Electric Skateboard

Sometimes, driving may not be the best (or funnest) way to get somewhere, and that’s where these electric skateboards come in, starting with The Monolith. This model is the world’s first and only with motors built directly in the wheels, paired with swappable battery packs. Since everything is inside the deck and wheels, the board looks like any other. It has a top speed of 24mph, a range of 10-miles when fully charged and an accompanying smartphone app can set your desired pace. Regenerative braking means the Manta Drive in-wheel direct drive motor uses this energy to charge the battery. Continue reading for more.

5. Golfboard

Golfboard

When golf cart meets electric skateboard, you get the Golfboard. This 4WD skateboard has been equipped with large, soft tires to traverse the green grass of the world’s most prestigious golf courses. It’s powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that enables you to climb the steepest hills with ease, even with heavy bags. Before hitting the green, you’ll need to spend 2 hours charging the board, which can reach speeds of up to 12mph. You steer it just like a skateboard, by leaning from side to side while a handheld Bluetooth remote controls the acceleration, deceleration as well as the reverse mode.

4. Bolt

Bolt Electric Skateboard

Created by Lorenzo Cella, Bolt is basically an incredibly portable electric skateboard touted as the smallest and lightest of its kind, measuring in at just 23.5″ x 10″ x 4″ while weighing 9-pounds. Don’t let its compact size fool you, as it has a top speed of 13 mph and a range of nearly 6.5 miles. Plus, there’s a built-in standard USB port that can charge an iPhone up to 20 times, thanks to its 5000mAh LiPo battery

E-Glide GT

Not just any electric skateboard, the E-Glide GT can veer off into the road less traveled and onto the grass, gravel, as well as other rough surfaces without a hitch. But E-Glides boards do just that, and do it with flair. The GT model features a 36 volt, 800 watt motor that boosts it from 0-23mph in just 5-seconds. Other features include: a 25″ aluminum deck, Kenda pneumatic tires and a 22-mile range with a H2A Lithium battery.

2. ZBoard 2

ZBoard 2

ZBoard 2, showcased at CES 2015, promises to be the “lightest, fastest, longest running weight-sensing electric skateboard ever.” Featuring larger and more sensitive footpads, this followup is now lighter and slimmer, thanks to a revamped lithium battery, along with a new 500W brushless motor. To ride, simply lean forward to go and lean back to stop. You can cruise at walking speed or top out at 20mph. When you lean back regenerative braking is automatically triggered. It’s available in two models: Blue Edition (16 miles per charge and weighing 16 lbs.) and the Pearl Edition (24 miles per charge, 18 lbs.).
