In honor of the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm, the LEGO Group today unveiled a new R2-D2 construction set that consists of 2,314-pieces. Not just any set, this one includes the droid’s unique retractable mid-leg, rotating head, periscope and several hidden tools including a lightsaber hilt concealed within a secret compartment in its head. When fully built, it’s perfect when displayed with right next to the set’s exclusive minifigure version of the iconic droid as well as a special Lucasfilm 50th anniversary LEGO brick.
This year, Lucasfilm is celebrating half a century of other worldly storytelling with a range of commemorative, fan-favorite 50th anniversary Star Wars products, including this new LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (75308) model, with many more releases planned for 2021. This construction set will be avilable May 1st, priced at $199 USD directly from the LEGO Store and various online retailers.

We have had the pleasure of creating hundreds of Star Wars-inspired models over the past two decades since we first launched LEGO Star Wars sets.
