Announced during Nintendo Direct today, Super Mario Bros. Wonder brings New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe-style 2D side-scrolling action back to the Nintendo Switch. In this installment, when a player touches a Wonder Flower in the game, the wonders of the world unlock, whether it be pipes coming alive, hordes of enemies appearing, or characters swapping their looks, transforming gameplay in unpredictable ways.
Playable characters include Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Yoshi. Plus, the game features Mario’s newest power-up, which seems him transforming into an elephant-like character. It’s set to be released on October 20th, with pre-orders beginning today. Just for reference, the last time a 2D Super Mario Bros. game was released on Switch was Super Mario Maker 2 in 2019.
