China’s Cyan Racing isn’t a well known name in the world of racing, but they’ve just set two new Nürburgring Nordshleife records with their all-new Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept. It’s now the fastest front-wheel drive car and the fastest four-door car, the latter of which was a record previously held by the Jaguar Project 8. Power comes from a turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 528 horsepower and 372 foot-pounds of torque. Read more for two videos and additional information.
The vehicle completed the 13-mile Nordschleife track in a mere 7 minutes and 20.143 seconds, which is more than 1-second faster than the previous record set by Jaguar’s Project 8 as the fastest four-door car ever around the Nürburgring, and nearly 20 seconds faster than the previous fastest front-wheel drive production car, the Renault Megane RS Trophy-R.
“We continued our development of the car in torrential rain and scorching sunshine on the most fearsome circuit in the world. The car is rewarding to drive no matter the conditions, be it the Nürburgring or the autobahn. The record that we achieved here is something I rank on the same level as my racing titles and a highlight in my part of transitioning development from race to road cars,” said Thed Björk, driver in the WTCR for Lynk & Co Cyan Racing.
