Overview

Being constructed at a cost of $900-million, this space telescope project is comprised of 66 antennas that weigh a hefty 115-tons each. Once completed in 2012, it will be able to capture ultra high resolution images of space with extreme accuracy. The antenna transporter itself weighs 130-tons, measures 20-meters long, and is capable of hauling cargo up the Chilean Andes to the array site, 5000-meters high.
