Frozen Pond Rock

Frozen ponds are nothing special, but this one just happened to have a few perfectly placed rocks inside, causing surreal rings to form around them. While no official explanation for them has been given, one Reddit user, “Biogeopaleochem”, says these occur because: “Differences in albedo or the reflectivity of the materials. Since the rock is darker it absorbs more energy from the sun during the day which is then emitted as long-wave radiation (heat) which melts the ice.
