..originally called the “Handy” by Epyx — in 1989, which coincidentally was the same year Nintendo launched the Gameboy. Due to poor sales, Atari “relaunched the Lynx [in 1990] with a new marketing campaign”, packaging, improved hardware/design, and a lowered $99 price tag. The Lynx was also the first gaming console with hardware support for zooming/distortion of sprites
