Domino's Self-Driving Pizza Delivery Car

Ford and Domino’s Pizza teamed up last year to test self-driving pizza delivery cars in Michigan, as part of an effort to better understand how customers respond to and interact with autonomous vehicles. Now, the program has extended to other parts of the US. How does it work? Simply place your order using the Domino’s app, type in your code on a tablet mounted on the C-pillar after the Ford Fusion Hybrid arrives, retrieve your order from the backseat, and then confirm that you’ve taken delivery of the pizza. “We don’t want to wait until we get everything done on the tech and remove the driver. We’re trying to start doing the research. We still are working on the technology, because it’s not ready to be put on public streets. It’s simulating that the vehicle is in autonomous mode,” said Sherif Marakby, Vice President of Ford Autonomous Vehicles and Electrification.
