Newcomer Ugobe is planning to take on WowWee – maker of the Robosapien – with Pleo, the robotic dinosaur. Pleo’s personality will evolve, change, and grow according to its environment with its built-in “DNA” programming. Users can also purchase “personality modules” that can be installed via SD card or USB connection. At the heart of it all are one 16-bit CPU, several 8-bit chips, 14 servo motors, and 40 force-feedback sensors. You can watch a video of it in action here.

“The goal is to have end users to see Pleos as more than just robots, but “living” companions.”
