Sun and Moon Halo

For those who live up in the mountains seeing sun and moon halos aren’t anything special, but the sky was perfect in Ostersund, Sweden a few days ago, so astrophotographer Goran Strand was able to capture this 22° solar halo. Approxiately 10 hours later, he returned to the exact same location and photographed the moon with its 22° lunar halo. He says: “It’s quite interesting to see these two halos side by side.” Despite the sun’s diameter being 400-times larger than that of the moon, it’s also further away, causing the sun and the moon to appear at roughly the same size in the sky.
