Samsung Electronics filed a patent with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for a ‘slidable electronic apparatus and method for using transparent display in said electronic apparatus’ that was just approved on March 10, 2022. From the patent sketches, we can see that it describes a smartphone-like device with a large the display area that can be extended all the way to the back.
When not folded out, you essentially have a smartphone with a double-sided display. Or, you can remove the screen from the back housing and connect it to the front to create an even larger panel. This would enable one to use multiple apps side by side or for entertainment, like mobile gaming or streaming shows. Where does the transparent screen come in? Apparently, when users want to snap a photo, the screen becomes transparent, enabling you to apply filters in real-time.
