Samsung has just announced the 305T, a 30-inch LCD — successor to the 244T — targeted at design professionals. At $2000, it offers 2560 x 1600 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 6ms response time, a 4-port USB hub, and a 178-degree viewing angle. No word yet on availability.

Still, it’s a step above the Apple on the hardware end, and Samsung displays aren’t nothin’ to thumb your nose at — it’s just a hard sell when Dell’s behemoth is going for as much as $500 less
