The last thing you’d expect as a diver is for a great white shark to breach your cage while you’re still inside, but that’s exactly what happened here off the coast of Mexico. What exactly happened? Well, as it lunged for a piece of bait, the shark hits the side of the cage where it thrashed around, breaking through the bars and into the shark cage.

Part-time diving instructor Ming Chan was inside the cage, and fortunately, he was able to escape through the bottom of the cage safely. Eventually, the shark exited the cage leaving a bloody trail. When the shark left, Chan got back in the cage and into the boat without any issue. When this video was first captured back in 2016, it garnered international attention, even making the front page of several major news outlets.
