Developer Joshua Barretto’s Super Mario 64 remake for the Game Boy Advance looks interesting to say the least, as its 32-bit CPU with integrated memory just isn’t powerful enough to emulate N64 hardware.
It looks so interesting because the entire Super Mario 64 game is being rewritten from the ground up to run efficiently on the Game Boy Advance. This means the finished project will be able to run on actual GBA hardware, but the next step is adding more features so it actually replicates its N64 counterpart as close as possible.
- Vivid 7” OLED screen
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- 64 GB internal storage (a portion of which is reserved for use by the system)
This is what I envision Mario 64 would look like if your N64 was horribly burned in a fire but miraculously still kind of worked,” said one fan.
