Located in Bangkok, the Octospider is the world’s first and only cafe located in the middle of a lake. It’s basically raised “over the water on steel stilts, and the long, narrow, window-lined arms of the structure means that everyone’s getting a seat with a view.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

The Octospider in Bangkok is, of all things, a cafeteria. We have no idea how the food is, but the view is amazing.

Underwater City

Though not fully submerged, the “Underwater City” in Bulgaria is “a town built in the middle of a lake, not on an island, but actually below water level.” Click here for one more picture.

This is going to be done via the construction of a huge circular dike that’ll be a whopping 1,377 feet in diameter and 65 feet high. People will be able to access the recessed city by boat, heading down into it to see the city.

Sky Village

At 380-feet tall, the Sky Village is set to be constructed in Roskildevej (Denmark). This pixel-inspired structure “will include apartments, a hotel, retail shops and offices as well as sky gardens for residents.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

These pixels are arranged around a central core and can be moved about�so the layout would constantly evolve.

Astana

Located in Kazakhstan, the incredible Astana Pyramid “was designed by british super-architects foster + partners, [at the] cost [of] 8.74 billion kazakh tenge”, or $56-million USD. Click here for first picture in gallery.

…a plan of the pyramid. the interior is just as impressive as the outer skin. this place is like a tardis and below the above-ground pyramid itself sits, amongst other things, an enormous 1,500 seat opera house.

Anara

Called the Anara Tower, this 2150-foot structure “will be home to offices, 300 of the most expensive apartments in the world, and a 250-room luxo-hotel.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

Topping the structure will be a crazy-looking propeller-like structure, where the hub of those spokes will house a glass capsule containing one of the most swank restaurants in the world.

When completed, the 35-story Capital Gate Tower in Dubai could quite possibly be the “most inclined in the world”. To accomplish this feat, “the design called for a foundation of extremely dense reinforced steel mesh and 490 piles sunk nearly 100 feet into the ground.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

If you thought the Leaning Tower of Pisa was messed up, get a load of the Capital Gate tower currently being constructed in Abu Dhabi. Actually, saying it is “messed up” is incorrect given that the 18 degree westward incline was completely intentional.

Tirol

Top of Tirol is basically a breathtaking “viewing platform located 3,000m above sea level at the Stubai Glacier in Tirol, Austria.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Weathering steel was used in the construction of this structure to account for the extreme weather conditions.

Walking House

Dubbed the Walking House, this “modular dwelling system that enables persons to live a peaceful nomadic life, moving slowly through the landscape or cityscape.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

And according to its designers, it has minimal impact in the environment thanks to its use of solar energy, small windmills and a wood stove.

Dubai Airport

Sleek and futuristic, the Dubai airport is now “the largest in the world, beating the 10.6 million of the previous record holder, the firebreathing Olympic terminal 3 at Beijing International Airport.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

…with 82 moving walkways, 97 escalators, eight skytrains, 82 moving, 157 lifts, and designed to easily handle the Airbus A380 and probably aircraft-sized UFOs.
