This time around, Honda has created a five seat hatchback that it says will be the most affordable hybrid in the world. Honda is targeting world wide sales of 200,000 Insights a year with half of those going to North America.

According to a new press release, “Microsoft is making this pre-release version of Windows 7 available to the first 2.5 million people who download.” Download page.

The Beta expires August 1, 2009, and Microsoft is of course pilling on the caveats in case this destroys your computer with fire — and limiting this first run of downloads to 2.5 million users.

Finally, Nissan has unveiled the GT-R SpecV. Priced at $171,383, it offers “carbon fiber rear spoiler, grille and brake ducts, along with an exclusive Ultimate Black Opal paint job.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

On the inside, a set of carbon fiber Recaro buckets are fitted up front, while the rear seats have been nixed to save a few pounds. Carbon fiber also adorns the center storage box, instrument panel and replaces the majority of the interior trim.

Here’s a first look at the Euro-spec 2009 Honda Insight, which “won’t differ too much from the U.S. version (we like our steering wheels on the right-hand side).” Expect to shell out around $20,000 for this hybrid when it’s released this spring. Click here for first picture in gallery.

As we’ve seen before, the front fascia carries over largely unchanged, although the technorific LED headlamps, deeply recessed fog lamps/air intakes and gaudy brightwork are all left on the designer’s desk.

Apple claims its new 17-inch MacBook is the thinnest notebook ever, at just 0.98-inches thick. Other features include: 1920 x 1200 LED backlit display, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (2.66-GHz), 4GB of DDR3 memory, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M/9600GT graphics, 320GB HDD, and a slot-loading SuperDrive. On the 9600GT, it’s down to 7 hours, but using the 9400M integrated graphics, 8 hours. That’s three hours longer than the previous 17-inch MacBook Pro, giving it a 60% increase in battery life.

The 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 is touted as the powerful factory production Mustang ever, powered by a supercharged 5.4L V8 engine that cranks out 540hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It’s set to hit dealer showrooms this coming spring. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Like the more prosaic Mustangs, the GT500 is mechanically an evolution of the older model. Just as Ford used the current-gen Bullitt model as the starting point for the 2010 Mustang GT, the lessons learned from developing the limited edition GT500 KR fed directly into the latest Shelby-badged variant.

A 9-year-old girl from India has managed to successfully pass a Microsoft Certified Professional examination, and is the youngest ever to do so. Video after the break.

The Microsoft exam, usually taken by techies for better job prospects, measures problem-solving skills and Lavinashree passed it with flying colors. By achieving this feat, she broke the record held by Arfa Karim, a ten-year-old Pakistani girl.

According to MacRumors, this iPhone Nano picture is “consistent with previously released case designs for the rumored device.” Official information has not yet been released.

It seems the “iPhone Nano” is the rumor that is going take the spotlight ahead of this year’s Macworld, and while MacRumors is publishing these photos and rumors, we have some serious doubts about the likelihood of such a device.

Revealed at the LA Auto Show, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder “offers a new 5.2 liter engine with 40 additional horsepower than its predecessor; allowing it to sprint from 0-62 mph in only four seconds with a top speed of 201 mph.” Video after the break. The car’s agility has also been greatly refined with a new, lighter transmission, which allows increased shift times by 40 percent (Corsa Mode), combined with an all-new chassis, suspension and Lamborghini’s permanent all-wheel drive system.
