The IBM Roadrunner is now officially the world’s fastest supercomputer, a title previously held by Cray. It consists of “12,960 IBM PowerXCell 8i Cell Broadband Engine processors and an additional 6,948 AMD Opteron Dual-Core processors.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Both the IBM and Cray systems break the petaflop processing barrier according to Top500 measurements (1.45 petaflops vs 1.38 petaflops, respectively).

A batch of Nissan 370Z press shots have been leaked one week before its official unveiling at the LA Auto Show. On the inside, “the rear strut tower brace that seriously compromised the 350Z’s trunk space has been moved just aft of the doors and everything in the engine bay looks ready for production.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

Lunar Rover

NASA has unveiled a new lunar rover concept — to be put in service by 2020, which “looks to be an evolution of the 12-wheeled Chariot prototype we saw earlier this year.” Click here for one more picture.

Inside a pair of explorers can go lunar RVing for up to two weeks at a time, covering 625 miles on one charge at a leisurely 6 mph, hopping out through rear-mounted (non-next-gen) spacesuits.

Tesla Model S

Finally, the 4-door Tesla Model S has been revealed. With a starting price of $60000, this model “will get around 240 miles per charge while still doing the zero to sixty in under six ticks.” Click here for one more picture.

The forthcoming Model S — an all-electric, five passenger sports sedan that will ride on a platform developed entirely by Tesla — has apparently been revealed.

New Apple MacBook

Unlike its predecessor, the new Apple MacBook “includes those same NVIDIA 9400M graphics, Mini DisplayPort plug, new manufacturing method and fancy glass trackpad of its big sibling, but does it with a 13.3-inch LED-backlit screen and typically friendly MacBook pricepoints.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

The base model weighs in at $1299 with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, while $1599 gets you 4GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD. There’s also an SSD option if you’re really looking to splurge.

Apple has officially unveiled the new MacBook Pro. At 0.95-inches thick, it utilizes “NVIDIA’s new 9400M GPU + chipset 1-2 punch for integrated graphics, supplemented by 9600M GT switchable discreet graphics chip for heavy lifting, and pumping out those graphics over a Mini DisplayPort connector.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

The 15.4-inch base model retails for $1999, with a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM and both GPUs. Step up to $2499 and you get a faster CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD.
