Battery Free Cell Phone

University of Washington engineers have created a cell phone capable of making calls by drawing on light or ambient radio signals, and it could be the first functioning handset that consumes almost zero power. Technically speaking, it harvests power from RF signals coming from a base station around 31 feet away, or from light using a minute solar cell. Currently, the team designed their own base station to receive and transmit radio signals, but in the future, this technology could be embedded in cell towers or Wi-Fi routers. Need to take an important phone call in public, but don’t want others eavesdropping on your conversation? Introduing Hushme. This strange voice mask basically blocks the sound of the wearer’s voice so others can’t listen in, and it connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth. No technical specifications are known at this time, but as you can see, there are no physical buttons. Officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain today, the Nokia 3310 refresh is set for release in Q2, priced at just $52. Featuring a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 2.0-megapixel camera, and a microSD slot, all running on Nokia’s Series 30+ software. Yes, it does include an updated Snake game.
