Unveiled at CES 2010, Kurzweil’s new e-reader platform, Blio, is one of the first to offer a read-aloud feature, in which “the voice is synchronized with follow-along word highlighting, making it ideal for language learners, young children and the vision impaired.” It will be available as a free download later this month.

Blio is also trying to stay true to the original medium (paper) by incorporating an image-rich format of books and magazines. That includes original layouts, fonts, colors, and graphics, combined with some online enhancements like web links and video.

Headed for AT&T in Q1 2010 is the Android-powered Dell Mini 3. Featuring a 3.5-inch (640 x 280) touchscreen display, 3.0-megapixel camera w/flash, GPS, and microSD expansion. Pricing has not yet been announced. Continue reading for one more picture from Dell’s CES 2010 press conference.

And from the looks of that pic of a prototype supplied by Direct2Dell, this Android handset will be custom skinned for AT&T.

We’re just 2-days away from sneak preview night at CES 2010, and here’s an Apple iSlate concept to whet your appetites until the actual device is revealed. When it comes to power and affordability, the Freescale Smartbook will be hard to beat. At 0.8-pounds, it packs a 1.0-GHz i.MX515 CPU, 512MB of DDR2 memory, 4GB-64GB SSD, microSD expansion, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, 3G WWAN connectivity, Bluetooth, and a 3.0-megapixel camera. We aren’t quite sure what kind of bulk discounts Freescale is counting on, but it’s hoping that this design will “enable a second generation of smartbook products with prices less than $200.”
