However, instead of the 1200HP engine, a pair of electric motors produce a combined outpout 400 horsepower, while the 41.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack allows for a driving range of 250 km/150 miles. Beijing Wowjoint Machinery Company’s SLJ900/32 is basically the 580-ton, 300-foot-long and 24-foot-wide mega machine they use in China to build bridges. Rather than use a stationary or crawler crane to lift the girder of a bridge off the ground and drop it into place, this mega machine drives the girder onto the previously placed girder, slowly extends its arms to the next support platform, pushes the girder towards the front of the machine, and then lowers it into place. Scientists in China have created the world’s first gene-modified dogs, which have twice the amount of muscle mass than that of a non-engineered dog. One advantage this gives them is a “stronger running ability, which is good for hunting, police (military) applications,” said Liangxue Lai, a researcher involved with the project at the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health. This same gene mutation does happen naturally in one particular dog breed, whippets, whose lack of myostatin makes their muscles grow even while resting. Thousands of people in the Chinese cities of Jiangxi and Foshan claim to have seen a ‘floating city’ in the sky. Many residents believed they had witnessed an inter-dimensional portal or a parallel universe, but weather experts say the phenomenon is known as an optical illusion called “Fata Morgana”. Apparently, this illusion is a type of mirage that distorts distant objects, can be can be seen on land or sea, and caused when the sun heats up the atmosphere above the land or oceans, which creates a gradient of temperatures. A glass-bottomed bridge in China, suspended 3,543 feet above the ground, cracked while visitors were walking on it. “I was almost at the end and suddenly I heard a sound. My foot shook a little. I looked down and I saw that there was a crack in the floor,” said Lee Dong Hai, one of the people on that bridge. It’s located at the Yuntai Mountain Geological Park in Henan Province, and opened just over three weeks ago on September, 20 2015. Chen Yan Xi is a seemingly normal 27-year old glass factory worker, but for the longest time, his real passion has been supercars. Unfortunately, most, if not all, are priced out of his range. So rather than just dream about one, he went out to build an electric-powered creation from scratch. Everything you see here was built inside a small workshop in Haikou, located in southern China’s Hainan Province. Once the sketches were finalized, the rest is history. This $328 laptop is powered by an Intel ATOM D2500 (1.86GHz), 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and sports a 14-inch LED HD Screen display (1366 x 768). Despite these lowly specs, it still has a 1.3-megapixel camera for video conferencing as well as 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connectivity. Situated 590-feet above ground in China’s grand Shiniuzhai Geopark, this glass-bottomed bridge welcomed its first guests, with some falling to their knees after glancing down at vast expanse of rocks and wildlife below. Connecting the peak of the park to the Stone Buddha Mountain, this bridge was previously made of wood, but after part of it was successfully converted to glass last year, authorities decided to for the complete overhaul. The 984-feet-long walkway in Hunan province is the longest of its kind in the world, taking 11 engineers several months to replace all the planks of wood with glass plates 25-times stronger than regular window glass. Traveling from Los Angeles to New York City in under 2-hours could be a possibility in the future, with this Super MagLev train, developed by a researcher in China – the current fastest passenger-carrying train, Shanghai Maglev Train, only reaches a high speed of just 268 mph. By placing this train in a vacuum tube, the researcher eliminated speed limitations imposed by air resistance on regular maglev trains.
