Nokia’s futuristic Storyplay e-reader is basically “designed to improve communication across generations and over a distance, and to support parents and grandparents in fostering the literacy development of young children.” Video after the break.

It has room in the middle for a removable paper book with magnets on each page to identify which is being shown, then on the top are two screens.

If the Gran Turismo 5 render didn’t whet your appetite for the Toyota FT-86, we’ve got a batch of live shots for your viewing enjoyment. Just to recap, it features the C-45 Boxer engine, which makes “between 200hp-250hp” to the rear wheels. Click here for first picture in gallery.

At 163.7 inches long, 69.3 inches, a wheelbase of 101.2 inches, and 49.6 inches high, it’s thankfully compact, smaller in length, width and height than the Nissan 370Z.

Called the SIMPLE, this BMW concept is a three-wheeled vehicle that draws inspiration from both cars and motorcycles. The 992-pound contraption “is capable of harnessing a small internal combustion engine and electric motor to tear up the autobahn at up to 124mph.” Video after the break.

The machine is the height of a Beamer 5-Series, but shorter than a Mini Cooper and goes 120 miles to the gallon.

The Land Glider is Nissan’s new zero-emissions concept, which not only features computer-controlled steering operations, but boasts “the ability to lean into turns like a motorcycle.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Inside the cockpit, the Land Glider’s pilot sits front and center behind a suitably futuristic instrument cluster and a steering wheel that looks like twin joysticks.

Breaking away from standard laptop designs, the Rolltop is a flexible OLED-based device that can be rolled up when not in use. In addition to being a 17-inch laptop, it “can also be folded into a 13-inch tablet of sorts.” Video after the break.

I’d like to think that by the time we see something like the Rolltop we will have wireless power, but the detachable stand stores the tablet’s stylus, power adapter and USB ports.

Microsoft Research has unveiled a line of multi-touch computer mice, and each one “uses a different touch detection method — at first glance all five seem to fly in the face of regular ergonomics.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Of course, there’s plenty of crazy in the FTIR, Orb Mouse and Cap Mouse (pictured), which rely on an internal camera, orb-housed IR camera and capacitive detection, respectively.

It’s sheer eye candy, and functional to boot. The Alessi Laser Shot Watch utilizes a modulated laser scanner to project the time onto one’s wrist. No word yet on if this concept will go into production. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The design features a unique broken “o”-ring band that is slightly elevated from your wrist in order to provide sufficient projection throw distance.
