Christa chose to make the Halo: Reach edition because she knew that it’s bundled with not one, but two cake controllers. Kidding. her husband got the actual Halo: Reach edition of the Xbox 360 just a few days before his birthday.

Finally, the Halo: Reach countdown has winded down, and gamers worldwide can get their hands on this masterpiece. IGN reports that “the whole shebang will last you about nine or ten hours on your first play through on the Heroic difficulty.” Video review after the jump. Click here for more screenshots.

The campaign is excellent, backed by solid storytelling and a powerful audio-visual experience. The competitive multiplayer is familiar, yet brand new with a lot more options and a faster pacing. And the cooperative Firefight arcade mode has finally met its potential.

A couple of Halo: Reach videos were shown at Gamescom 2010, and they provide us with a preview of the new Firefight map. This map “takes place inside a covenant cruiser, in a small hanger with large entrances on two sides of the enclosed space.” Videos after the break. Click here for more screenshots.

According to Bungie it’s one of the smallest Firefight maps in the game, so there’s rarely a time when you’re not firing and/or fleeing for cover.
