With its fighter jet-inspired front end, the $4.5-million Lamborghini Veneno made its official debut on the flight deck of the Italian naval aircraft carrier Nave Cavour this week in Abu Dhabi. It’s powered by a 6.5L V12 that produces 750hp, mated to a 7-speed single-clutch ISR transmission, complete with five different driving modes. We have seen the future of Lamborghini, and it’s the Diamante. Separated at birth, the Aventador and this futuristic Diamante do indeed look very similar, yet different at the same time. At $7.5-million, this supercar is merely a 1:8 scale model of its roaring real-life counterpart. According to World Car Frans, a master craftsman will carve the chassis from a 500-kg (1,102-pounds) block of solid gold and the final model will contain a whopping 25-kg (55-pounds) of the highly desirable precious metal. Six months after unveiling the Aventador, plans for a roadster version were leaked by the U.S. EPA after it included the model on a data sheet on its website.
