The big Apple announcement at today’s Apple Event was the 11.6-inch MacBook Air. With prices starting at $999, this laptop features an upgradeable 1.4-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB or 4GB of RAM, and 64GB / 128GB SSD options. Videos after the break. Click here for more pictures.

It carries over the aluminum unibody construction from the 13-incher, along with the same 2GB or 4GB DDR3 RAM options and NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, but has to settle for a briefer 5-hour battery life.

It’s exactly as it looks, a MacBook Air somehow slipped out of its owner’s hands and then a bus just so happened to run over it. On the bright side, it still turns on — might still work if used with external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Continue reading for more pictures.

While details are a tad sketchy, it seems that the owner of this MacBook Air somehow let his prized possession slip under a bus, which promptly drove right over it.

For a Windows XP-powered MacBook Air knockoff, you’ll have to visit China. This clone features an Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, two USB ports, Ethernet port, HDMI, and weighs just 2.99-pounds. Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Expecting a laugh riot? Not so fast — what we have here is a pretty decent netbook, apparently.

Upgrades to the second generation MacBook Air include: “a real grown-up processor, great NVIDIA integrated graphics, faster memory and a faster system bus for a dramatic speed boost.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

There’s still one measly USB port, no FireWire, no Ethernet, a non-standard display plug, a non-replaceable battery, an external-only disc drive with some odd power requirements and no internal 3G option or ExpressCard slot — this is still a far cry from your standard, “full featured” laptop.

MacBook Air Prototype

A user over at Mac Rumors recently picked up a MacBook Air on eBay for quite the deal, but didn’t realize that it was a prototype model — defined by red logic board. Click here for first picture in gallery.

It’s got a few giveaways: the microphone positioning near the webcam is off, there’s no keyboard lighting, no “MacBook Air” legend, it runs an interim build of OS X 10.5 and the bottom is black-colored aluminum, versus the usual shiny silver.

New MacBook Air

Upgrades to the new MacBook Air include: a “new mini DisplayPort plug to replace that totally oddball microDVI plug and integrated graphics (NVIDIA 9400M).” Click here for first picture in gallery.

Shocking, we know. Booting is a snap (25 seconds in informal testing) with that new 128GB SSD, the computer runs cool and core-shut-down-free, can handle full HD video, and outputs to external monitors without a problem.

Voodoo Envy 133

So, we know that the Voodoo Envy 133 has claimed “world’s thinnest laptop” honors, but how does it really stack up against the MacBook Air? Click here to find out.

There are certainly some striking similarities — both have gargantuan trackpads, for instance, but Voodoo has taken things in an aesthetic direction all its own.
