Sure, Apple updated its 2018 MacBook Pro models twice this year, with the latest being with AMD’s Vega GPUs, but as for a big redesign, we probably won’t see one until 2019. This bezel-less concept shows what such a refresh could look like, running a unified OS X that also works on iOS devices. Finally, macOS Mojave has come out of beta and will be available for Apple users to download today. This update is mostly about front-end tweaks, including new visual elements, apps, and the much talked about “Dark Mode”. Found in System Preferences, under General, the mode offers classy evening look, with a smoked glass menu bar and dock. Apple revealed new refreshed MacBook Pros for 2018, and it includes both the 13- ($1299+) and 15-inch ($2399+) models. The former can be configured with an Intel Core i5 / i7 CPU, and up to a two-terabyte SSD, while the latter offers a Core i9 option, 32GB of RAM, as well as a 4TB SSD. For media professionals who need more graphics power, the 15-inch model includes AMD Radeon Pro GPUs with at least 4GB of VRAM, and the 13-inch has Intel’s Iris Plus 655 graphics (128MB of eDRAM). It’s only a matter of time before Apple releases a MacBook Pro with an integrated touchscreen, and it could look something like the design above. This laptop would utilize Apple’s Taptic Engine system to give the user the feel of physical buttons, even the scroll wheel and / or sliders. The NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti is a beastly graphics card to say the least, but what happens if you pair it with a MacBook Pro? Well, in benchmark tests, when the graphics card was placed inside an AkiTiO Node or Mantiz Venus enclosure, its scores bested the stock internal Radeon Pro 460 graphics by up to 4-times the speed. Scores were even higher when the external GPU was paired with an external display rather than sending the signal back to the MacBook.
