He’s sent these pics in of his freshly-unboxed gunmetal PS3, and says of the new surface: “The feel of the console is much better than the regular piano black PS3; no more fingerprints for me!”

A major theme in MGS4 is how “war has changed,” and, right from the get-go, I was noticing how MGS has changed in the process. So far, it’s been largely for the better.

It’s not much, and it’s certainly a downer to note that this edition doesn’t include a Solid Snake figurine.

It’s a masterpiece. But forget you read that. Go play it and find out for yourself. Because it’s the kind of game that, if you play it after being told it�s a masterpiece, might end up disappointing you because of the hype.

Konami Metal Gear

Gone is the fancy lighting and bonus rendering passes, in its place not only an increased level of detail in the character models, but a game that you’ll actually be able to play next week.

Hideo Kojima MGS4

For those who were in the HMV Oxford Street, London area yesterday, Hideo Kojima was there signing MGS4 sleeves as well as MGS Essential Collection. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Joining him was lead artist Yoji Shinkawa and Beauty and the Beast model Yumi Kikuchi. Our friends at PS3 Fanboy were at the event and report that the first 300 pre-printed sleeves went rather quickly.

Sure, there was plenty that we didn’t like about Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, like the ol’ protagonist switcheroo, and the outrageously confusing ending — but petty qualms aside, it remains one of our favorite PlayStation 2 games.
