The Walt Disney Company has announced that it will be closing both the Disneyland (July 27th, 2010) and Walt Disney World (September 8th, 2010) versions of Star Tours, in preparation for a new pod racer attraction that will hit both parks in 2012. Still, even though Star Tours was pretty dated, it will be sad to see the original go. Glad I got to experience it once a few years ago before it’s gone for good.

Gizmodo reader Jonathon decided to built a Star Wars bed that trumped all others, in terms of awesomeness. So, he built a 3-level Imperial Walker bed, complete with a “Hoth lego display case on the second level as well as additional areas for the kids to play and climb.” Click here for first picture in gallery.

I worked on the project two days a week from the end of September 2009 until its completion in February 2010. I would guess I had somewhere between 300-400 hours by the time the sanding and painting was complete.
