Disney’s The Mandalorian may appear to shoot on location in many scenes, but in reality, they’re using digital sets, in addition to practical, in-camera effects. Epic Games stepped in to develop an innovating technique combining digital sets projected on LED displays with the Unreal game engine for some amazing real-time camera trickery rendered with NVIDIA GPUs. Disney has officially joined the streaming business with the debut of its Disney+ service. The company hopes that its $6.99-per-month service will attract millions of subscribers with its mix of Marvel / Star Wars movies, TV shows, classic animated films, new series and lots more. The most highly anticipated original show is “The Mandalorian,” a live-action “Star Wars” series created by Jon Favreau. Earlier this year, in March, LG Electronics filed a patent for a ‘television receiver with flexible display,’ and it was recently approved on September 13, 2019. The patent sketches show a TV with a flexible display consisting of six equal sections that can be folded in a zigzag. Scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on November 12, 2019, Star Wars: The Mandalorian takes place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter beyond the reaches of the New Republic. The main character is played by Pedro Pascal, who portrays Mandalorian, a lone gunfighter and bounty hunter with a Clint Eastwood-esque vibe as well as advanced combat skills and questionable moral character. The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau released the first official trailer for the show today at the D23 Expo, and it’s set to debut exclusively on Disney+ on November 12th. This show takes place a few years”after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. Patrick Stewart introduced the first trailer for Star Trek: Picard at San Diego Comic-Con today, and fans attending were able to preview the series before the internet. The trailer opens with Picard in the vineyard where he opens some doors and looks at his old belongings. Stranger Things Season 3 (July 4) is nearly upon us, so it only makes sense for Nike to release themed sneakers and clothing based on the hit show. This new Hawkins-inspired collection features the Cortez, the Tailwind, and the Blazer Nike Classics sneakers, set for a first drop on June 27th. Game of Thrones Season 8 is well underway, and one Belgian designer wanted to reimagine the title sequence in the style of another one of his favorite shows, Westworld. Called “Westerosworld”, this mashup consists of Westworld’s opening credits and throws in dragons, the house flags, Night King, as well as the Iron Throne, complete with a reimagined Game of Thrones’ theme song.
