GTA: San Andreas looks great with RTX Remix path tracing enabled, while the first Tomb Raider game from 1996 looks like an entirely different game. What is RTX Remix? It’s a tool composed of two core components that work together to enable modders to remaster classic PC games like this one using the RTX Remix creator toolkit as well as a custom RTX Remix runtime.
First, the RTX Remix creator toolkit, built on NVIDIA Omniverse, enables modders to assign new assets and lights within their remastered scene, while using AI tools to rebuild the look of any asset. The second tool, RTX Remix runtime, basically captures a game scene, and replaces assets at playback while inserting RTX technology, like path tracing, DLSS 3 and Reflex into the game.

The original Tomb Raider game was first released on October 25, 1996 for the SEGA Saturn, followed shortly after by the MS-DOS and PlayStation versions. Gameplay consisted of the player assuming the role of Lara Craft and navigating her through a series of ancient ruins in search of an ancient artifact. Peru, Greece, Egypt and the lost continent of Atlantis are the four areas Lara can explore. Action takes place in a third person perspective, with Lara always visible and a camera following the action by focusing on her shoulders by default. Manual control of the camera allows the player to get a better look at an area.
