Magic the Gathering Avatar The Last Airbender Set Preview Card
Magic The Gathering is known for threading pop culture into its card-flipping realm, and its newest mashup with Avatar The Last Airbender is set to pack an elemental wallop. Unveiled at MagicCon Las Vegas 2025, this Universes Beyond set, due out in November 2025, brings the adored Nickelodeon show to the tabletop, spotlighting Aang, bending tricks, and a vivid fantasy land drawn from pan-Asian lore.

The set’s first hints dropped during a MagicCon Las Vegas panel, where Wizards flaunted the debut card: a double-faced Legendary Creature showing Aang in his Avatar State. “Bend the Elements, Master the Game,” Wizards teased in a promo clip, hinting at a set where players can “soar on a sky bison, tap into past Avatar memories, and dive into a world of hidden marvels.” The card, named Avatar Aang on one side and Aang, Master of Elements on the flip, rolls out a new “bending” mechanic linked to the show’s four elements—water, earth, fire, and air. Players need to waterbend, earthbend, firebend, or airbend to draw a card, and nailing all four in one turn flips Aang into his beefier Master of Elements form, sporting a 6/6 stat line with flying and a slew of game-altering perks.

At the start of each upkeep, Aang’s Master of Elements dishes out four life, draws four cards, stacks four +1/+1 counters on itself, and lobs four damage at each opponent. Plus, it cuts the cost of spells by one mana of each type, making it a gem for five-color Commander or Brawl decks. “Avatar Aang is a four-color Legendary Creature (RGWU) that has flying and Firebending 2,” Wizards explained at the panel, teasing how bending ties into Magic’s mana setup.

Besides Aang, the set plans to spotlight key characters from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series, skipping The Legend of Korra cast to keep the focus sharp. “We’ve teamed up tight with Magic’s creative crew, and we can’t wait for you to see their brilliance,” said co-creator Mike DiMartino in a note after the MagicCon Chicago reveal earlier this year. Look for cards of fan-faves like Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko, each likely tied to their bending skills or standout traits.

The set’s a full-blown flagship release, packing randomized boosters for Limited play and a digital drop on MTG Arena just before the November 21 launch. Unlike some Universes Beyond sets, Avatar: The Last Airbender is Standard-legal, a trend kicked off with the Final Fantasy set earlier in 2025, promising to stir up competitive scenes.

For those itching to dig deeper, Wizards has lined up a full preview on August 12, 2025, spilling more cards, mechanics, and product goodies.
