Dust blows across the cracked desert floor and neon flickers on the horizon. Fallout’s second season is coming this December on Prime Video. After the first season’s explosive premiere, Amazon’s adaptation of Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic video game series is doubling down, taking its characters – and its fans – to the iconic, crazy city of New Vegas.
Ella Purnell’s Lucy MacLean, the wide-eyed Vault-dweller, is still the heart of the show, her optimism battered but not broken by the harsh surface world. Alongside her, Walton Goggins’ Ghoul, a 200-year-old bounty hunter with a face like worn leather, is still stealing scenes with his drawl. Aaron Moten’s Maximus, a Brotherhood of Steel squire wrestling with loyalty and ambition, rounds out the core trio. New photos from Amazon show Lucy and the Ghoul slogging through the Mojave Desert, their tense alliance hinting at more conflict to come. Maximus is a Brotherhood member, and his power armor sparkles in the sun. These photos suggest that Season 2 will pick up right where the first left off, with each character pursuing their own answers in a world where truth is as scarce as pure water.

New Vegas, the glittering, lawless city from the 2010 game Fallout: New Vegas, is the focus of this season. Fans of the game know it as a hub of factions, vice and moral ambiguity, rebuilt from the ashes of Las Vegas by the enigmatic Robert House. Amazon’s first-look photos don’t show the Strip yet but they do tease its presence. One image shows the Ghoul in his pre-war life as Cooper Howard, standing in a pre-war Las Vegas with his wife Barb, played by Frances Turner. This flashback will peel back more of the Ghoul’s tragic past and tie his story to Vault-Tec’s role in the nuclear apocalypse. Another photo shows Lucy’s father Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan) looking suspiciously clean after his escape in Season 1, hinting at his continued scheming.
Macaulay Culkin joins the cast as a recurring character, described as a “crazy, genius-type”. Details are under wraps but he’s probably connected to Robert House or the Vaults’ experiments. Moisés Arias returns as Norm, Lucy’s brother, still dealing with Vault 31’s secrets and Frances Turner returns as Barb, whose pre-war actions are looming large. The ensemble also includes Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson and Leslie Uggams with new faces like Kumal Nanjiani bringing fresh energy. Showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, with executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, are building on the world while staying true to the games’ irreverent tone. Filming wrapped in April 2025 in California with locations like Baker standing in for Novac with its dinosaur statue.
Season 2 goes deeper into the Mojave’s factions and moral dilemmas. Robert House will play a bigger role, with set leaks showing Dinky the T-Rex. The story will get into the power struggles of New Vegas where the Chairmen, Omertas and White Glove Society are vying for control under House’s thumb. This means a darker, more complicated story as Lucy, Maximus and the Ghoul navigate a city where every choice is their last.
