Disney Research’s BDX droid greeted Pollen’s Reachy 2 during a trade show and dancing promptly ensued after a short conversation. The former is the same robot seen Disney theme parks worldwide, including at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Disney World.
BDX’s has a head capable of four degrees of freedom, enabling it to look up, down, around, and tilt. It also features legs with five degree-of-freedom and hip joints that allow the droid to walk smoothly while dynamically balancing. As for Reachy 2, it consists of two bio-inspired 7-DOF robotic arms that offer advanced manipulation, paired with best-in-class VR application for teleoperation and data acquisition.
