Nicolas Cage stars as a down-at-heels Spider-Man in the upcoming series Spider-Noir, a dark, gritty take on the web-slinger that will premiere on Prime Video in the spring. This one is based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir and transports its hero to 1930s New York, where one man is the last chance for a city in serious jeopardy.
Nic Cage stars as Ben Reilly, a private investigator who used to be all about saving the day but walked away years ago when a personal tragedy left him feeling like he had a weight tied to his ankle. Now, thanks to a particularly complex case, he finds himself dragged back into the fray as ‘The Spider’, forced to confront the ghosts he’s been attempting to keep at bay. The phrase pretty much says it up: no power equals no responsibility. Reilly is simply going through the motions, without the traditional Spider-Man ideals, since he is more of a reluctant vigilante than a hero to be idolized.

Cage incorporates elements of Humphrey Bogart and himself, resulting in a radically unexpected performance. Reilly is jaded, intoxicated, and always ready to punch. The show combines classic detective work with the expected web-slinging, but it does so in a grounded manner reminiscent of vintage Spider-Man movies.
The supporting cast is equally adept at fleshing out the world. Lamorne Morris excels as Robbie Robertson, the journalist who stands by Reilly’s side. Li Jun Li adds glitz to Cat Hardy, the nightclub owner whose twisted web Reilly gets ensnared in. Then there’s Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane, the local mob lord, and Jack Huston as Flint Marko, dubbed The Sandman. Karen Rodriguez rounds out the essential regulars as Ben’s secretary Janet, which means Ben is the only one around who isn’t a loose cannon, bless ’em.
The show’s co-showrunners and executive producers are Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who collaborated with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal to create the series. Harry Bradbeer directed the first two episodes and did an excellent job of establishing the visual tone. Sony Pictures Television is responsible for the entire production, which was completed for MGM+ and Prime Video.
One thing to keep in mind is that viewers have the option of seeing the entire thing in monochrome (“Black & White Authentic”) or full color (“True-Hue Full Color”), depending on their preference. The series premieres on MGM+ on May 25th, 2026, and then moves to Prime Video a few days later, with all eight episodes released in one massive binge on May 27th.
