ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Sells Out in US

Within minutes of going on sale in the US, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, an Android 3.0-powered tablet / netbook, sold out through online retailer Amazon.com. It features a 10.1-inch IPS capacitive LED touchscreen, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, and up to 32GB of internal Flash memory. Product page. Videos after the break. …Best Buy being the only retailer we can currently find with stock in the US. We can’t say for sure whether we’re looking at overwhelming demand or just limited supply, but it’s hard to argue with ASUS’ excellent value proposition here.

Engrain Tactile Keyboard: The Apple Keyboard with Wooden Keys

Not just any Apple keyboard, the Engrain by Pratt design student Michael Roopenian boasts wooden key tops. He decided to create this “in order to provide a more natural connection between users with their interfaces.” Click here for more pictures.

Each key cap on this modified Apple keyboard is cut from sandblasted lumber, providing a ridged, tactile feel under fingertips.

Nook Color Update Released, Adds Email, Apps, and Flash

Barnes & Noble released the version 1.2 update for its Nook Color e-reader today. It adds “flash web browsing, downloads, games, [and] e-mail.” The update will automatically be downloaded on any devices that are registered and connected to the internet via Wi-Fi. Ultimately this latest update turns the $250 Nook Color into a fine entry-level tablet with a comfortable size, nice screen and a rather accessible price.
