Just like translucent glass frogs, the Predators in Predator Badlands can camouflage themselves using a cloaking device. Set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025 and directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who revitalized the series with the acclaimed Prey (2022), this installment takes a bold new direction by making a Predator the protagonist for the first time.
The tale is set in the future on a distant, harsh planet, possibly the Predator’s home or another alien world. It centers on Dek, a young, outcast Predator (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), who aims to show his worth by facing a fierce, almost impossible-to-defeat foe. Dek joins forces with Thia (Elle Fanning), a Weyland-Yutani android, forming an unusual team. The trailer shows huge monsters, deadly vines, and lots of action, plus bits of Predator culture, language, and fights among the Yautja (the Predator species).

Unlike Prey, which was set on Earth, Badlands dives deep into sci-fi with a giant, kaiju-like monster and a focus on growing the Predator story. Director Trachtenberg calls Dek a Conan the Barbarian-style character, mixing toughness with real feelings, which is a new angle for the series.

The trailer has a big hint: Thia’s eyes show the Weyland-Yutani logo, linking Badlands to the Alien universe. This has fans guessing about a possible Alien vs. Predator mash-up, though the movie is meant to stand alone. People are curious about Thia, who might be a reprogrammed android like Andy in Alien: Romulus, and how she works with the Predator.
