You may have already heard about the fake Intel Core i7-920 processors that made their way to online computer superstore NewEgg, now here’s how to spot one. Some of the immediate clues that give it away are spelling mistakes on the box along with a lead square purporting to be a CPU. Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Newegg has thrown supplier IPEX Infotech of Freemont [corrected] California under the bus for this fiasco; in a statement released to Information Week, the retailer said, “We have since come to discover the CPUs were counterfeit and are terminating our relationship with this supplier.”

Intel results for Q4 2009 have beat analysts’ expectations — $10.2-billion, as the company had sales climb 29% to $10.6-billion. Its net income in the 3-months up to December 26th, 2009 was $2.3-billion, which is a massive increase to the $234-million earned in 2008.

Chip makers are coming out of the industry’s worst downturn in decades and are expected to benefit from increased technology spend by large firms in 2010.

Amazon has the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 Processor for $237.18 shipped, originally priced at $511.00. It “brings four computing cores running at 2.66 GHz in a single processor for the ultimate in efficiency and performance.” Product pageIt features 6 MB of L2 cache and a 1333 MHz front side bus, and it uses the LGA775 socket for wide compatibility with motherboards. The processor features Intel’s 45nm architecture.[via Amazon]

Intel’s Moblin 2.0 is touted as the first and only operating system designed specifically for netbooks. According to a company rep, “thousands of applications for Linux just run on it, no porting or middleware.” Video after the break.

If you’re just using it as a web-oriented secondary machine, the light apps and WebKit browser should theoretically be just fine.

Intel MID

That’s right, the first working Intel MID has been revealed. It “consists of a Lincroft micro-architecture that integrates the 45nm processor, graphics, memory controller, and video encode/decode functions onto a single, tiny chip.” Video after the break.

That’s pretty Impressive. As we’ve heard before, we can expect the new Moorestown MIDs to hit in 2009 / 2010 with support for wireless 3G, WiMAX, GPS, Bluetooth and digital mobile TV.

Intel Computer

The UrbanMax is basically an Intel computer concept that “includes an 11-inch (1,366 x 768) display, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a minuscule optical mousing device and Windows Vista behind the scenes.” Video after the break. Click here for one more picture.

We’re still having a tough time labeling Intel’s uniquely designed UrbanMax concept, but according to a company representative on hand at IDF, it was designed primarily to be used as a touch device.
