Here’s a mind-blowing look at supernovae, stellar explosions in space. Supernovae are extremely luminous and cause a burst of radiation that often briefly outshines an entire galaxy, before fading from view over several weeks or months. During this short interval a supernova can radiate as much energy as the Sun is expected to emit over its entire life span. Approximately 25-years-ago, in 1987, the brightest supernova (1987A) in recent history was seen in the Large Magellanic Cloud. At the center of the above picture is an object central to the remains of the violent stellar explosion. Continue reading to see more.

The Orion Nebula is essentially a diffuse nebula situated south of Orion’s Belt in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae, and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. It’s the closest region of massive star formation to Earth. The nebula is estimated to be 24 light years across. It has a mass of about 2000 times the mass of the Sun. Continue reading for more.

Wildlife photography usually requires a lot more patience than other forms because in addition to needing sound technical skills, such as being able to expose correctly, these photographers generally need good field craft skills. Photographing some species may require stalking skills or the use of a hide/blind for concealment. Continue reading to see twenty-four more incredible animal photos that were perfectly timed.
