All fans of the show probably remember “The Homer”, as it was a special car designed by Homer Simpson when his half-brother, Herb, gave Homer a job at Powell Motors. It’s basically a parody of the Edsel, a similarly disastrous vehicle produced by Ford Motor Company. Homer’s creation was such a monstrosity that cost so much to develop, complete with a sky high price tag, it put Herb out of business. Shortly after, Herb’s factory was purchased by Komatsu Motors. In the fifteenth Simpsons episode “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?”, Grandpa confesses that Homer has a half-brother, whom Homer immediately tries to track down. He eventually discovers that his brother is Herbert Powell, the head of a car manufacturer. Herb immediately starts to bond with Bart and Lisa, and he invites Homer to design his own car. Homer’s car design turns out to be a disaster, which causes Herb to become bankrupt. The futuristic car has now become a reality, thanks to a few dedicated fans.
