Toyota Prius

Toyota has just released a new Prius commercial, titled “Harmony”, which takes place in a cartoon-like dream world — “designed to show the symbolic connection between nature and automobiles is mesmerizing and creepy.” Video after the break.

It’s one of those ‘high concept disguised behind something cool’ commercials and to the untrained eye, it just looks like people taking the place of nature, moving in concert to look like grass and water and trees and the like.

Anyone looking for an economical vehicle upgrade will appreciate the 2010 Toyota Prius. Its features a “1.8-liter inline-4 with variable intake valve timing — 98 hp at 5,200 rpm and 105 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Running on the Atkinson cycle, this 1.8-liter is the single biggest factor in the 2010 Prius’ climb to the coveted 50-mpg combined rating (from 46 mpg in 2009).

When is a Prius not just a Prius? When it gets “hacked at the middle, re-formed and re-stuffed, and welded back together.” Click here for more pictures.

…it seems as though adding considerable weight to a car specifically design with fuel economy in mind seems like a fruitless endeavor, but the man claims to still be getting 50 MPG
