More than just a pinball machine, this interactive installation, built for a Nike ad campaign, “uses a giant LCD screen as the playfield, a soccer ball-style pinball and virtual Nike shoes as flippers, comes pretty darn close.” Video after the break.

For playing pinball, the gameplay actually looks pretty smooth. It obviously doesn’t match the authenticity of a traditional pinball machine but it comes a little closer than Space Cadet 3D.

Here’s a first: playing a 3D version of Tetris on a water-based display. That’s right, “researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have found a way to create three-dimensional images using a projector and layers of water droplets.” Video after the break.

The water drops in curtains, while the projector switches up what’s being displayed on each layer, creating volumetric 3D that, because it exists in actual 3D space and not on a screen, doesn’t even need glasses.

Reggie Fils-Aime was asked when the company’s upcoming glasses-free 3D portable will be release. His reply? “Next year.”
